Questions and answers

How Showpiece turns a short phone video of your product into a 3D model on your Shopify product page, with “see it in your room” on iPhone and Android.

Last updated October 4, 2026

What is Showpiece?

Showpiece is a Shopify app. You film a product with your phone, and Showpiece turns the video into a 3D model that shoppers can spin around on your product page. On iPhone and Android, they can also place it in their own room.

Who is it for?

Shopify merchants who sell physical products and want shoppers to see them from every side. It suits small, solid, everyday things best: homeware, ceramics, shoes, bags, toys, plants, crafts and the like.

What do I need?

A phone with a camera and a Shopify store. No special equipment, no turntable and no 3D skills.

Which products work best?

Solid products with a matte surface and some texture or pattern. If it sits still on a table or the floor and you can walk all the way round it, it’s a good candidate.

Which products don’t work well?

  • Shiny or mirror-like products
  • Glass and see-through products
  • Products with very thin parts, like wire frames or fine jewellery chains
  • Very large items
  • People and pets

How long does it take?

Filming takes a couple of minutes: two slow circles of 30–60 seconds each. Your 3D model is usually ready in about half an hour. See how to film.

Where does the 3D model appear?

On your product page, in the same gallery as your product photos. You review the 3D model in the Showpiece app first, and it only goes on your store when you add it.

Do shoppers need an app?

No. Shoppers see the 3D model right on your product page, in their usual browser.

How does “see it in your room” work?

It uses the AR viewer built into iPhone and Android phones, which Shopify offers for 3D models on product pages. Shoppers tap the button on your product page and point their phone at the floor or a table. If you entered your product’s real size, it shows at true scale.

Which themes work?

Shopify themes that show 3D models in the product gallery. That includes Online Store 2.0 themes such as Dawn. If your theme shows 3D models from other sources, it will show yours.

What does it cost?

There’s a free plan to start, with no credit card needed. Paid plans include more 3D models each month. On a paid plan you can also make extra ones for a small charge each, up to a monthly limit you set. Everything is billed through your Shopify bill. See pricing for the plans.

What if my result isn’t good?

We check every 3D model before you see it. If a video doesn’t give a good result, we tell you what to change and you film again. Re-shoots are free: they don’t count toward your plan.

What happens to my videos?

Your videos are stored privately and used to make your 3D model and suggested product photos. They’re never shown to shoppers or shared. When you uninstall Showpiece, we delete your videos, 3D models and photos from our servers about 48 hours later. See our privacy policy.

Can I remove a 3D model?

Yes. Remove it from your product in the Showpiece app (or delete it from the product in Shopify), and archive it if you want it out of sight. You can restore an archived 3D model later.

Where is Showpiece available?

For now, Showpiece is available to Shopify stores in the US and Canada.

How do I get access?

Join the early-access list. We’ll email you when your store can install Showpiece.
