Who we are
Showpiece is a Shopify app that turns a short video of a product into a 3D model for your product page. Showpiece is operated by Matrisia Lab Inc. (“we”, “us”). If you have any question about this policy or your information, email hello@showpiece.dev.
This policy covers the Showpiece app and the showpiece.dev website. It’s written for merchants: the Shopify store owners and staff who use Showpiece.
What we collect
From your Shopify store, when you install Showpiece:
- Your store’s Shopify address (for example, your-store.myshopify.com).
- The access credentials Shopify gives us so the app can work with your store. Showpiece asks Shopify for permission to read and update your products and to upload files. It doesn’t ask for access to your customers or orders.
- Details of the products you choose to film: the product’s ID, title, main image and the media on its page.
- Which Showpiece plan you’re on, and how many 3D models you’ve made each month, so we can apply your plan’s limits.
- Your Showpiece settings, such as your monthly limit for extra 3D models.
From you, when you use Showpiece:
- The videos you film and upload, and the product’s real size if you enter it.
- What we make from your videos: the 3D model, preview images, suggested product photos and the results of our quality checks.
From the early-access list on showpiece.dev:
- Your email address, and your store’s address if you give it.
- Which page you signed up from, the time you signed up, and the type of browser you used.
- We use your IP address briefly to block spam sign-ups. We don’t store it.
What we don’t collect:
- Shoppers’ information. Showpiece doesn’t add any code to your storefront. When shoppers view a 3D model on your product page, they’re using your Shopify store, not Showpiece, so we receive nothing about them.
- Payment details. Shopify handles all billing.
Why we use it
- To make your 3D models and suggested photos, and to add them to your products when you choose to.
- To show you your 3D models, plan and usage in the app.
- To apply your plan’s limits and to tell Shopify about extra 3D models so they appear on your Shopify bill.
- To check quality, fix problems and improve how well Showpiece works.
- To email you about early access, if you joined the list.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Where it’s stored
Your videos, 3D models, photos and account information are stored on servers we operate. Video and image files are kept in private storage that isn’t reachable from the internet. The app shows them to you through short-lived, signed links.
Traffic to the app and to showpiece.dev passes through Cloudflare, which provides our network and website hosting.
How long we keep it
- While Showpiece is installed, we keep your videos, 3D models and photos so you can review, publish, restore or re-use them. Archiving a 3D model in the app hides it but doesn’t delete it. If you want something deleted sooner, email us.
- When you uninstall Showpiece, we delete your store’s access credentials straight away. We keep a record of your store and its monthly usage for 48 hours, so that reinstalling doesn’t reset your plan’s limits.
- 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify asks us to erase your store’s data, and we delete everything we hold for your store: videos, 3D models, preview images, suggested photos, settings and usage history. If you reinstall before then, your account picks up where it left off.
- While a 3D model is being made, we keep a temporary working copy of your video. We delete it as soon as the work finishes. If something goes wrong, we may keep the working copy for the most recent few failed attempts to find out why; each one is deleted as newer ones replace it.
- 3D models and photos you’ve added to your products are stored by Shopify as part of your store. Uninstalling Showpiece doesn’t remove them. You can remove them in Shopify at any time.
- Early-access sign-ups are kept until you ask us to remove them. Signing up again with the same email updates your existing entry.
Our servers also keep short technical logs (for example, which store an event relates to) so we can run the service and fix problems.
Who we share it with
- Shopify. When you publish a 3D model or add suggested photos, we upload them to your store. We also tell Shopify about extra 3D models so they can bill you.
- Service providers that help us run Showpiece, such as Cloudflare for our network and website. They only handle information as needed to provide their service to us.
- Google. The 3D preview in the app loads its viewer from Google’s public library servers, so your browser connects to Google when you open a preview.
- If the law requires it, for example to respond to a valid legal request.
We don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you or your store, and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- remove you from the early-access list.
Email hello@showpiece.dev. We’ll reply as soon as we can, and within the time the law requires. Depending on where you live, you may also be able to complain to a privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Shopify may also ask us, on behalf of a shopper, for data about that shopper or to delete it. Because Showpiece doesn’t hold any shopper data, there’s nothing to return or delete.
This website
showpiece.dev sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising scripts. Its fonts and 3D viewer are served from showpiece.dev itself.
- If you join the early-access list, the form sends your details to our app server at app.showpiece.dev.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and, like any web host, may keep standard server logs such as IP addresses and browser types.
- If you tap “View in your space” on a 3D model on this site, your phone opens its own AR viewer: Apple’s Quick Look on iPhone, or Google’s Scene Viewer on Android, which loads the 3D model through Google.
Children
Showpiece is a tool for businesses. It isn’t meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information about them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date. If a change matters to how we use your information, we’ll also tell you in the app or by email.
